The Project

It's hard not to love SoapHope.com. The company invests 100% of its profits to help women in poverty start and grow their own businesses. Their products smell like a little whiff of heaven. And the founders, Salah and Craig, are two of the nicest guys around. Since we're such supporters of their mission, AMP decided to gift SoapHope with a commercial to spread the word about their unique business model and eco-freindly products.

Into this lovefest walked child talent extraordinaire Lily McCollum. Working with Lily was a dream. She's a bubbling spring of infectious laughter and energy--and the best darned little spokesperson we could have hoped for.

We shot for two hours on a warm afternoon on an Uptown corner. Lighting was minimal with two battery operated LED lights and bounce boards. The whole kit and caboodle was in the can in two hours.

This project was pretty much pie from the get go: a product we feel great about, talent we want to feed ice cream to... and the Canon Mark II 5D camera, expertly handled by uber-DP Sandy Abernethy, created beautiful pictures that made us all feel swooney when we took it into post. Editor Danny Greer took it up a notch with color correction. And Dallas Taylor at Defacto Sound pitched in with audio sweetening that, in the end, produced a :30 spot that we hope serves SoapHope well.
