Production
We'd like to get to know you.

First and foremost, we develop relationships with our clients. We might begin a contract for one video for the training department, or one video for the internal communications department, but we soon develop relationships throughout the company, and find ourselves creating video communications that span the needs of the entire company. We find this a very satisfying component of our business, with our clients’ messages conveyed more consistently as we here at AMP grow to become experts on their culture.
A number of our clients are North Texas-based companies with large networks of retail outlets. Our clients’ headquarters personnel have relied upon AMP to help reach out to the large numbers of employees for a variety of communication needs. Our videos complement instructor-led training and have been an effective part of successful training programs. We also create video modules for interactive computer-based training. In addition to working with training, we partner with internal communications to create videos that excite and inspire employees about innovations and cultural initiatives. Creating high-energy, engaging media that enhance company meetings is another way we regularly partner with our clients.

Because of our broadcast television background and high professionalism, these videos meet the high quality standards our clients expect. Because of our emphasis on storytelling, our videos convey information in an interesting, creative way that means the message is easy to absorb. Because of our flexibility and problem-solving culture, our projects arrive on time and on budget. All of this results in an extremely high level of customer satisfaction our clients would be happy to speak with you about.
Our History
Abernethy Media Professionals, or AMP, grew out of a natural partnership between video professionals and husband and wife team: Amy Lou and Sandy Abernethy. Amy Lou Abernethy began her professional life as a scriptwriter and grew into a video producer with a love of “the story.” Sandy Abernethy has been in the business for over twenty-five years as an award-winning Director of Photography. When they combined their talents, the two freelancers found that their emphasis on building solid relationships with clients and their high standards of quality equaled a business that has grown exponentially over the past decade.
Growth has been impressive, with sales growing every year, averaging nearly 30%. Staffing has been strategic, as Sandy and Amy Lou sought out and found individuals who are personable, talented problem-solvers with high standards of quality.
From their partnership with their first major corporate client, Kinko’s (now FedEx Office), AMP has been producing a variety of internal communications programs, from training videos to monthly video newsletters for executive teams, as well as external marketing videos. Local clients grew over the years to include Brinker International, Baylor Health Care Systems, Texas Health Resources, CiCi’s Pizza, and Regus Office Systems. In addition to corporate work, AMP continued to develop their “camera and crew” provision service for national television networks and production company clients from around the country.
In 2004, AMP began developing episodic television programming for the HD startup network, Veria. It’s proven to be a fruitful endeavor, with Veria re-upping with AMP to produce a second season of Simply Beautiful, as well as three other new 26-episode series, Empty Nesters, What’s Brewing? and Whatta Ya Think?
Sales numbers skyrocketed and staff and equipment were both expanded. A new home was required to house all this activity. A 6000 square-foot building near downtown Dallas was acquired, housing administrative offices, 5 edit rooms and 2 shooting studios. AMP currently employs 11 full-time staff, a host of contract employees and various freelancers.
How is AMP different?
We could tell you what we think sets us apart--but why not let our clients speak for us? According to a survey conducted by Beggs Consulting, our clients describe AMP as organized, flexible, responsive, positive, respectful and logistical. We pride ourselves on being prepared and prompt--yet not rigid. We are organized to minimize surprises.
It’s a time-worn cliche to say “Our people make the difference.” The funny thing is, it’s true--and our clients back us up. In the Beggs survey, clients chose phrases and words like team players, great personnel, collaborative people, and experienced to describe us. When AMP hires a team member, we don’t do so lightly. Ours is not a revolving door. We consider it an honor to work with one another, we treat each other with respect, and we believe that this quality comes through in our relationships with our clients and the work we do together.
Organized AND flexible. Responsive AND relationship-oriented. What this means for our clients is less stress--we work together smoothly to deliver projects on time and on budget with no surprises.
And when it comes to technology, AMP is on the cutting edge of this rapidly changing industry. We produce all turn-key corporate work in HD, utilizing latest-generation Panasonic cameras and P2 solid state recording media. The benefits include increased picture quality, increased camera reliability and vastly reduced capture times--time-to-edit is reduced by as much as 75%. Another benefit is that projects can be backed up and archived more easily and inexpensively than previously possible. To this end, we have created an archival system that protects our clients’ media. We find that footage captured and archived for one project can be reused again and again and our centrally located digital server system allows for easy management of libraries of footage.
A final differentiator: AMP is a woman-owned business, with Amy Lou Abernethy serving as President. Some of our clients find working with woman-owned businesses helps them meet diversification goals.

We're all thrilled with every [video] piece produced for this conference...Thank you, as always, for your ongoing partnership and expertise. It's a privilege to work with you and your entire team. -Tracy Brantley, Brinker International
